Advanced Structural Mechanics Laboratory focusing on high strain rate loading and material behavior.

Heavy Structures Lab

IITH CE Heavy Structures Laboratories provides facilities to conduct conventional tests using the lab’s uniquely large strong floor, reaction walls and variety of actuators and modern instrumentation devices and sensors. The facilities are capable of inducing forces ranging from few newtons to thousands of kilonewtons & measure deformations ranging from a few thousandth of an mm to hundreds of mm.

The Structural Engineering Laboratory supports advanced teaching and research in the analysis and behavior of structural systems under static, dynamic, and pseudo-dynamic loading conditions. Equipped with high-capacity MTS pseudo-dynamic test systems featuring hydraulic actuators up to 500 kN, the laboratory enables experimental investigation of strength, stiffness, ductility, and seismic performance of structural components and assemblies.

ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF PRECAST BUILDING SYSTEMS

This course provides an overview of precast concrete construction, covering industry opportunities and challenges, material durability and sustainability, and the analysis and design of precast systems. It also addresses seismic and wind performance of precast buildings, along with planning, machinery, and quality control aspects involved in large-scale precast fabrication and erection.
